    Ohio group clears step in dog auction ban effort

    COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A group that wants Ohio to ban dog auctions has cleared an initial hurdle in its effort to get a new law on the books.

    The state's top elections chief said Friday the Coalition to Ban Dog Auctions had more than the 115,209 valid signatures needed and has met the constitutional requirements for its citizen-initiated law.
